Syria is designated for Temporary Protected Status for 18 months On March 23rd, 2012 Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano, announced that she is designating Syria for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for a period of 18 months based on deteriorating security conditions in Syria. If you are in the United States on a non-immigration visa from Syria, you should contact the attorneys at Tucker & Ludin to get assistance in registering for TPS. Our attorneys are sensitive to your immigration needs and can communicate with you in Arabic.
On September 25, 2012 the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) sent out a release reminding Syrian nationals that the registration deadline for TPS was that very same day: September 25. If you missed the deadline to apply for TPS, you should contact the immigration attorneys at Tucker & Ludin to discuss with you what you might be able to do to legally stay in the U.S. Ahmad Yakzan and Eric Ludin are both experienced immigration lawyers and Mr. Yakzan is fluent in Arabic.
